TablePress for Amazon Affiliate Tables: Limits and the Upgrade Path

TablePress is a beloved free WordPress plugin, and for pure data tables it's excellent. Plenty of affiliates start their comparison tables in it. Here's what works, what breaks, and when it's time to move on.

What TablePress does well

Clean spreadsheet-style editing, shortcode embedding, sorting and filtering. For a specs table you maintain by hand, it's hard to beat free.

Where it breaks down for Amazon affiliates

• Prices are manual. Amazon requires displayed prices to be current; a hand-typed price is stale within days. Keeping dozens of tables honest by hand doesn't scale.
• No product data. Images, ratings, and Prime status all have to be added and updated manually.
• Links are manual too. Every cell link needs your tag appended correctly — one typo and clicks go uncredited.
• WordPress-only. Your tables are trapped in one site's database.

The upgrade path

Keep both

Many sites sensibly keep TablePress for editorial data tables and use an API-backed builder for anything with a price on it. Right tool, right job.
