Amazon Affiliate Table Best Practices
A comparison table can be your highest-earning block or an untrustworthy mess. These are the rules that separate the two.
Design rules
- Five columns max. Image, name, key differentiator, price, button. Every extra column costs mobile readability.
- Mobile-first. Most affiliate traffic is mobile; tables must collapse or scroll gracefully. Test every table at phone width.
- One visual hierarchy. Highlight exactly one row (your top pick). Highlighting several highlights nothing.
- Buttons, not text links. "View on Amazon" buttons out-click bare links substantially.
Compliance rules
- Prices must be current. Amazon's agreement requires displayed prices to reflect the live price — hand-typed prices are a violation waiting to happen. Use PA API-backed tables.
- Disclose. An affiliate disclosure must appear before your first affiliate link — above the table, not in the footer.
- No fake ratings. Display Amazon's ratings or your own clearly-labeled editorial rating; don't blur the two.
Maintenance rules
Products get discontinued. Review your top tables quarterly, replace dead products, and let live API data handle the day-to-day price drift. Tables in Table Labs update product data automatically and can be edited once and updated everywhere they're embedded.
